Adult Social Care Enquiry Team (ASCET)

ASCET assesses adults’ needs to decide if care and support can be offered based on prioritising those at most risk. Even if you have had no contact with social work before, once your child approaches age 16 you should ask ASCET for an assessment if your child will not be able to move on to a fully independent adult life. The wait for assessment can be months, so contact them in plenty of time before your child begins to transition out of school into adult life.  Services include: support at home, home safety, sensory support, occupational therapy, learning disability services and independent advocacy services.

Working Families

Working Families is the UK’s national charity for working parents and carers. Our mission is to remove the barriers that people with caring responsibilities face in the workplace.
We provide free legal advice to parents and carers on their rights at work. We give employers the tools they need to support their employees while creating a flexible, high-performing workforce. And we advocate on behalf of the UK’s 13 million working parents, influencing policy through campaigns informed by ground-breaking research.
