FAQS – Signpost Star Challenge
If you can’t see the answer to your question here, please call Signpost on 01506 431123 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will respond as soon as possible.
How do I know Signpost is a real charity?
Signpost is registered with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR). Our registration number is SC032398, and you can see our entry on the register here.
Registration opens on June 1st, and closes on June 30th.
The challenge must be completed and proof submitted by 31st July, after which medals will be sent to participants.
What if I can’t complete my challenge in time?
Life happens – we get it! Just drop us an email and we’ll make alternative arrangements – we don’t want anyone to miss out on their medal.
I’m not in the UK – can I still enter?
Yes! Our registration system accepts bookings from any country. We would love to welcome some international supporters!
Anyone of any age can enter the challenge.
Is the challenge suitable for people with disabilities/ additional support needs?
Yes! We hope that young people, in particular, will be encouraged to ‘have a go’ at one of the shorter distances. Remember, it can be done in stages, and we are happy to accept the word of a parent/carer that the challenge has been completed by a child. You could do a little each week, or each day.
However, participants must consider whether they have any health issues which may be relevant, and take advice from a health professional about taking part if they are in any doubt.
Proof of completion
Send your picture, link or other proof to email@example.com with ‘Star Challenge’ in the subject line, by 31 July 2018. Remember, parents can certify their children’s runs simply by telling us that they have successfully completed the challenge.
£12 for adults, and £7 for children (under 16 at time of registration). There will be an additional booking fee of up to £1 per registration – this is added by the company handling the bookings, Q-Buster.
We’re sorry, fees are non-refundable once registration is completed.
Each participant who provides proof of completion of one of the distances – 2km, 5km, 10km or 13.1 miles – will receive our exclusive medal. These will be available for collection from our office at Beatlie School Campus, Livingston, EH54 5EJ, or posted out to participants, in August.
You do not have to be sponsored to take part in the Challenge. However, please consider raising funds for Signpost to help us with our important work of supporting families of young people with additional support needs to have an ‘ordinary life’, with the same choices and opportunities as any other family. Every penny helps, there is no minimum sponsorship amount.
It’s easy to set up a FREE JustGiving page to collect donations – click here to get started – or if you prefer you can contact us to receive a sponsorship form by calling 01506431123, or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why is it called the ‘Star Challenge’?
At Signpost we believe that everyone has their own unique gifts and potential, and that each and every one of us can be a star in their own way!
